On the Ground in Haiti
The following photos were taken by the Hospital for Special Surgery team that went to Haiti immediately after the earthquake. They are provided courtesy of Dr. Dean Lorich.
The photos chronicle their initial arrival at a semi-functional hospital and the crowds of injured that awaited them. The photos end with their harrowing departure a few days later after they ran out of medical supplies and suffering from exhaustion after a two-day marathon surgery session that included over 100 patients. They leave under guards as the growing crowd of patients and their families see them packing up.
