NuVasive, Inc. has just launched its RELINE Trauma portfolio and O.R. virtual reality (VR) simulation…and they recently showed these products off at a meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).

"RELINE Trauma is the most versatile trauma system on the market," said Jason Hannon, NuVasive's president and chief operating officer, in the April 20, 2017 news release. "In collaboration with our surgeon partners, we've succeeded in creating a platform designed not only to improve clinical outcomes, but also to reduce the total cost of care."

“…The VR simulation provides step-by-step instruction of the procedure, while helping develop the associated muscle memory required to address a burst fracture in an interactive O.R. setting,” says the news release.

Hannon commented to OTW, “The genesis of RELINE Trauma came from the success of our broader RELINE portfolio. The move into the trauma market highlights our continued commitment to create procedurally based solutions with cutting edge technology. We watched our posterior fixation platform help to preserve and restore alignment, and we knew that this would be a game-changer in the trauma market as well.”

“Surgeons are already telling us that RELINE Trauma is the most versatile option available in the trauma market. Our goal with RELINE Trauma is to provide surgeons the ability to customize their approach intra-operatively, choosing from traditional open approaches to more modern Hybrid/MAS [multi-agent system] approaches based on pathology and patient needs. RELINE Trauma will be our foundation and we will continue to invest into this living system.”

“At AANS, many attendees asked us about the rack in the RELINE Trauma portfolio. They were surprised about the amount of anterior focal kyphosis correction the rack can correct and hold into place without a rod present. Others were interested in our universal tulip design, allowing surgeons the ability to build in different rod diameter strength profiles, while also allowing true integration of all implants and instruments across the Reline Open and MAS portfolio. Also, surgeons commented on the procedural integration of NuVasive’s entire portfolio, specifically Computer Assisted Technologies that enables real time correction measurements, the ability to store data, and contour rods directly to the spine with our Bendini technology.”
