New work performed at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles set out to determine if there was a link between dose-dependent opioid use and postoperative complications following joint arthroplasty.

Their results, “Dose-Dependent Early Postoperative Opioid Use Is Associated with Periprosthetic Joint Infection and Other Complications in Primary TJA,” appears in the August 18, 2021 edition of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
