While patients may prefer early weight bearing and fewer restrictions, the jury is still out on the timing of weight bearing after surgery for ankle fracture. A team of researchers from the University of Missouri in Columbia decided to test the connection between early weight bearing and short-term complications and their resulting paper: “Early weight bearing is not associated with short-term complications in ankle fractures” appears in the January 17, 2025 edition of The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery.
