A team from the Harris Orthopedics Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School has developed and tested a novel antibiotic loaded UHMWPE material that combines structural function with localized drug delivery.
The results of that study, “Enhanced Antibiotic Release and Mechanical Strength in UHMWPE Antibiotic Blends: The Role of Submicron Gentamicin Sulfate Particles,” appears in the March 19, 2025 edition of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
