New work from Brown University and Louisiana State University recently set out to determine if cervical disc arthroplasty is safe in the overweight and obese populations. The research, โCervical disc arthroplasty is safe across various obesity levels,โ appears in the April 2025 edition of The Spine Journal.
โWe are seeing indications for cervical disc arthroplasty continue to rise and wanted to investigate how body mass index affects patient outcomes,โ stated senior author Andrew Zhang, M.D. an orthopedic spine surgeon with New York Presbyterian Hospital-Och Spine at Columbia University in New York City.
