Helsinki, Finland-based Surgify Medical OY has closed on a €7 million Series A funding round (about $7.9 million) to bring to market an innovative surgical tool, brand named Surgify Halo™. The new technology provides bone cutting capabilities while protecting vital soft tissues—such as nerves, arteries, vessels or other soft tissues.
High-speed surgical drills, an essential part of modern surgery, carry some risk when they inadvertently contact soft tissue during surgery. The annual cost of accidental soft tissue damage due to high-speed drills, according to Surgify, is about €4 billion annually.
