A new study published June 15, 2025, in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons finds that total hip arthroplasty (THA) performed as part of oncology treatment carried a markedly higher risk of complications.
The research, titled “How Do the Outcomes of Total Hip Arthroplasty for Oncologic Hip Reconstruction Compare With Those Performed for End-Stage Osteoarthritis?—A Propensity-Matched Cohort Study,” aims to guide expectations for patients with orthopedic cancers.
