Dr. Richard Huntington “Rich” Sidell, Jr., 79, a veteran orthopedic surgeon and accomplished athlete who served patients for decades in the Chicago area, drowned while windsurfing on July 27, 2024, on the Columbia River near Hood River, Oregon.
He was a man in perpetual motion—on water, snow, or in the operating room. Known for his kinetic energy and elite skill, Dr. Sidell forged a rare path that fused surgical precision with competitive athleticism.
