A newly published nationwide cohort study from Denmark has identified a significantly increased risk of early periprosthetic tibial fractures (PPTFs) following cementless medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (mUKA) compared to cemented procedures.

The findings, titled “Early Periprosthetic Tibial Fractures Are More Common After Cementless Medial Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty, appeared in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery on June 24, 2025, and emphasize the need for careful patient selection and surgical planning when using cementless fixation.
