Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York and Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) in Florida have teamed up to form “HSS at NCH,” bringing the reknown HSS expertise to Florida residents. The collaboration began when Naples philanthropist Jay Baker underwent successful surgery at HSS in New York, leading to a $20 million gift from Jay and Patty Baker and a $7M contribution from the Kapnick Foundation.
Jon Kling, the system COO for Naples Comprehensive Health, told OTW, “Jay Baker, a Naples philanthropist an former President of Kohl’s Department Stores, is a longtime supporter of both Naples Comprehensive Health and Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. His personal experience with orthopedic surgery at HSS was life-changing. After receiving exceptional care, he was inspired to help bring that same level of expertise to his Naples community. He and his wife, Patty, made a transformative $20 million match gift to support the creation of Hospital for Special Surgery at Naples Comprehensive Health, helping to establish a destination for world-class orthopedic care in Southwest Florida.”
