Orthopedic surgeons, orthopedic clinics, legal service providers, and more are among the 47 defendants named in a lawsuit filed by insurance providers Roosevelt Road Re and Tradesman Program Managers under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
The insurance providers allege that since 2018 the defendants have engaged in a scheme utilizing New York Workers’ Compensation Law. Under the law, per the complaint, a “worker injured on a construction site is entitled to prompt indemnity and medical compensation through a workers’ compensation claim.”
