Using NSQIP Pediatric data on more than 34,000 deformity cases from 2016–2022, Vivien Chan, M.D., and colleagues have published a new study in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (September 3, 2025) that give pediatric spine surgeons a sharper, simpler predictive outcome tool: the Pediatric Spine Frailty Index (PSFI).
