Every year, the North American Spine Society (NASS) rolls out its Recognition Awards — arguably the closest thing the spine world has to the Oscars, if the Oscars included more research abstracts and fewer choreographed dance numbers.

Instead of gold statues, awardees receive something far more meaningful: acknowledgment from peers who understand exactly how much work, sacrifice, and innovation it takes to move the field forward.
