You’ve seen it on MRI: the spinal cord looking a bit too snug in that cervical canal — like trying to squeeze into your fellowship suit after a pandemic of takeout and Zoom calls.

That tight fit, politely called spinal cord–canal mismatch (SCCM), has raised eyebrows and a few sleepless nights among spine surgeons. Could this “cord corset” sabotage the otherwise glowing outcomes of cervical disc replacement (CDR), especially in patients with myelopathy?
