Over the last few years, the fully cemented short tibial stem has been pitched as just that: a biomechanical seatbelt, particularly for patients we quietly label as โhigh-riskโ (you know who โ BMI โฅ 40, younger, active, and not afraid to stress-test their implants).
The theory sounds great. Early aseptic loosening has been linked to native short tibial stem designs and morbid obesity. So why not add a short, cemented stem extension and sleep better at night?
