Another major leadership move in orthopedics is underway. Michael L. Parks, M.D., a New York–based hip and knee specialist, has been named First Vice President of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

This appointment places him firmly on the Academy’s four-year presidential track, with plans to assume the AAOS presidency in 2027. He officially stepped into the role following the 2026 AAOS Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
