When most people think about preparing for spine surgery or a joint replacement, they picture hospital visits, X-rays, and maybe a shiny new walker waiting at home.
But at Rhode Island’s University Orthopedics, specialists are encouraging patients to think about surgery a little differently — more like training for a marathon than showing up for a sprint.
