Medacta International, headquartered in Castel San Pietro, Switzerland, has announced that its MySpine Midline Cortical [MC] Pedicle Screw Placement Guide, a patient-matched technology for posterior lumbar fusions, is commercially available.
MySpine MC, which the company says is a “patient-matched, 3D-printed MySpine MC which guides pedicle screws to a trajectory that evolved from the well-established cortical bone trajectory (CBT).”
“The MySpine MC technique employs a more caudomedial entry point than traditional pedicle screw trajectories and has a less extreme caudal-cranial angle than CBT to avoid interference with the cranial facet joints and to accommodate larger screw diameters and lengths, precisely supported by 3D pre-operative planning.”
The goal of MySpine MC is to provide a more accurate and reliable muscle-sparing approach and, therefore, speed patient recovery and be able to be employed in both inpatient and outpatient surgery settings.
