Nelson Stacks, most recently director, president, and CEO for WaveGuide Corporation, is the newest board of directors’ member at Avon, Massachusetts-based Ranfac Corp. A philosophy major with double minors in Biology and Organizational Psychology and a Master of Business Administration, Stacks brings over 25 years of experience in the biomedical field.

According to Ranfac, “From 1993 to 1996 at Intermountain Scientific Corporation, his tenure included positions in sales, eventually earning him the title of VP of Sales. He was also appointed to Intermountain’s President’s Advisory Board. Prior to this, he was a Product Manager for periodontal and reconstructive technologies at Stryker Biotech and held the role of VP of Business Development at Lexiquest.”

“From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Stacks completed the Kauffman Fellowship with Oak Investment Partners, engaging all aspects of venture capital investing. At 3i Ventures (3i Group PLC), he acted as General Partner from 2000 to 2005”

“From 2006 to 2009, under the Queensland Investment Corporation/Queensland Biocapital Funds umbrella, Mr. Stacks served in various positions, including Director at Columna, Executive Chairman, and CEO of Xenome, Ltd., Chairman and Director of Xbio Systems, and Director and CEO of Telesso Corporation.”

“He also served as Director, President, and CEO of Vascular Pathways Incorporated from 2009 to 2011 and as Director and CEO of Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals from 2011 to 2013. From 2013 to 2016, Mr. Stacks served both as Chairman of the Board for Canterbury Laboratories/Or-Genix and as an independent Board Director and Consultant for Sideris. During this timeframe, he also acted as Consulting President for Tarpon Biosystems.”

At WaveGuide. Stacks “identified, and strategically targeted markets for the world’s smallest, most sensitive handheld NMR for Point of Care detection of cancer, infectious diseases, oil and gas exploration, industrial anti-counterfeiting, and military uses.”

Stacks’ initial steps are to provide advice, counsel and support to the CEO and executive leadership team toward addressing strategic issues and opportunities. He is leveraging leadership, functional and industry experience to provide context and insight around issues faced by the company.
