Best known as co-developer, along with Yves Cotrel, of the Cotrel-Dubousset spinal fixation system which, in 1984, helped make spine fusion surgery safer and more effective. 

The system, called “CD”, was perfected in Paris before Cotrel introduced it to Abe Glasser and Jules Falcone at their medical supply company in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Later, a Memphis start-up company, Danek, Inc., would acquire the manufacturer of the CD system, Sofamor, which had been founded by Yves Cotrel.
