Lumbar epidural steroid injections (LESIs) are the bread-and-butter nonoperative workhorse of degenerative spine care. They’re fast, familiar, and — most of the time — about as dramatic as watching contrast spread under fluoro.
But as every seasoned pain doc and spine surgeon knows, “low risk” does not mean “no risk.”
