Woburn, Massachusetts-based HD LifeSciences LLC is now NanoHive Medical, LLC.
NanoHive Medical designs and develops “3D printed spinal interbody fusion implants.” Its product portfolio includes cervical implants, transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion implants, and anterior lumbar interbody fusion implants.
According to the company, changing from HD LifeSciences to NanoHive Medical is “part of broader initiatives that include the recent building of a new executive leadership team and the current growth capital raise.” The company’s executive leadership changes have included naming a new CEO and CFO. For OTW’s coverage of these leadership changes, see “HD Lifesciences Names Patrick O’Donnell President And CEO” and “HD Lifesciences Names Tim Jette Chief Financial Officer.”
OTW spoke with NanoHive Medical President and CEO Patrick O’Donnell about the decision to change the company’s name. “Management believes that ‘NanoHive Medical’ better communicates the distinctive nature of our proprietary technology and product portfolio.”
O’Donnell also discussed the company’s goals for the next six months with OTW: “The company is pursuing activities to ensure we are building upon the solid foundation for growth we’ve established the previous six months to ensure we are ready to hit in full stride and otherwise execute upon our 2022 growth projections.”
O’Donnell continued, “This primarily includes properly funding the company to support both new product and commercial development.”
This month the company will launch its Hive™ Stand-Alone Anterior Lumbar Interbody System at the North American Spine Society (NASS) annual meeting, September 29 through October 2, 2021 in Boston, Massachusetts.
NanoHive Medical received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its Hive Stand-Alone Anterior Lumbar Interbody System in April 2020. The stand-alone implant is meant to be used in patients with degenerative disc disease.
Over the next three years, according to the press release, NanoHive Medical intends to launch several new implant systems. The implant systems will be based on its portfolio of Hive interbody fusion products.
