Warsaw, Indiana-based Zimmer Biomet has named its spine and dental spinoff “ZimVie” and has also named its executive team.

Earlier this year, Zimmer Biomet announced that it was going to combine its spine and dental businesses to form a new, independent, publicly traded company called “NewCo.” According to the company, the transaction process is on track and is expected to close by mid-2022. For OTW’s initial coverage of the spin off, see “A Look Into Zimmer Biomet’s Spine and Dental Spin Off.”

Now, the spine and dental spinoff has a name, ZimVie, and has filled key executive leadership positions. Zimmer Biomet has named finance executive Richard Heppenstall as ZimVie executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Heppenstall has over 25 years of finance experience, with extensive experience in the medical technology space. Heppenstall previously served as Carlsbad, California-based Breg, Inc.’s chief financial officer. Per its website, Breg is the “second largest U.S. provider of orthopedic bracing.” Prior to Breg, Heppenstall spent four years with Lewisville, Texas-based Orthofix Medical Inc. Orthofix is a medical device company focused on spine and orthopedics.

Heppenstall is not the only new addition to ZimVie’s leadership team. The following individuals have also been appointed to ZimVie’s leadership team: Vincent Binetti, general manager, bone healing; Laura Driscoll, vice president, communications; David Harmon, senior vice president, chief human resources officer; Indraneel Kanaglekar, senior vice president, president, global dental; Heather Kidwell, senior vice president, chief legal and compliance officer; Mike Minette, senior vice president, strategy and corporate development; Ann Vu, senior vice president, regulatory affairs and quality assurance; and Rebecca Whitney, senior vice president, president, global spine.

The senior leadership team will report directly to ZimVie CEO Vafa Jamali. Jamali commented, “I’m incredibly excited to bring on such a seasoned leadership team to drive ZimVie forward following the separation. With their collective experience, I know we have the right leaders in place to set ZimVie up for success.”
