OsteoMed, a privately held medical device company in Addison, Texas, is launching OsteoVation QWIK, its product designed to fill bony voids and gaps of the skeletal system. A composite of calcium phosphate and calcium sulfate granules, the material, according to a company release, creates a macroporous construct that allows for faster bone remodeling while maintaining targeted compressive strength.

The company has packaged OsteoVation QWIK in impact and inject formulas to provide surgical options for both open and minimally-invasive surgical procedures. Officials report that both formulations are osteoconductive and provide a scaffold to enhance the bone during the healing process. Company officials report that OsteoVation QWIK is one of several new products the firm is scheduled to launch in 2013.
