Orthozon Technologies is announcing upgrades to its newly patented device, the Lumiere Retractor System. Lumiere uses a powerful built-in fiber optic lighting, translucent retractor blades and full medial access to give surgeons an expandable field of view and greater comfort and flexibility when performing micro endoscopic surgery.
“The new year will bring continued advancements to our flagship product, ” said Lumiere inventor Joshua Aferzon and CEO/founder of Orthozon Technologies, in the November 19, 2013 news release. “Beyond equipping surgeons with a valuable tool, the device ultimately allows for better outcomes for patients with quicker, less painful recovery periods.”
One of the Lumiere’s latest features is an ultra-portable light source, which includes a hand-held LED coupled with flexible fiber optic fibers. Also, the Lumiere retractor now comes in a larger size that will allow surgeons to perform more complex spinal fusion procedures. Additionally, the Lumiere will be provided with a new and improved, sleek rotating cap that is outfitted with a custom grip handle allowing for more smooth and easy opening and closing of the retractor blades.
Joshua Aferzon told OTW, “We are extremely pleased with Orthozon’s performance during its first ever sales year and plan on continuing this trend into 2014. More specifically, Orthozon will focus on developing hardware technologies to complement its successful MIS retractor system.”
The Lumiere Retractor System recently won an award as one of the Top Ten Best New Technology advancements for the spine by Orthopedics This Week.
