Patients in Biscayne, Florida, can now avail themselves of immediate orthopedic care via OrthoNOW, the country’s only network of Orthopedic Urgent Care Centers. The grand opening, held on Thursday, March 10, 2016, included business people and local dignitaries such as Claudia Molina (author, nutritionist and fitness expert); Barry Johnson (CEO, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce); Marie F. Bell (intergovernmental liaison, Office Mayor Carlos Gimenez) and Cynthia Demos (Emmy-Award winning journalist).
As indicated in the March 11, 2016 news release, “The evening event included a ribbon cutting led by OrthoNOW Biscayne owners Drs. Alejandro Badia and Laurent Dreyfuss and Justin Irizarry and David Bohórquez, D. O. who serves as OrthoNOW Biscayne’s Medical Director.”
Dr. Bohórquez, who has completed a fellowship in sports medicine and is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, stated, “This community is very active and, when injuries occur, we want our neighbors to know that our medical team is ready to assess and treat injuries on a walk-in basis. We are looking forward to caring for the people who live and work in the MIMO corridor for decades to come. It gives us great pride to be part of this vibrant neighborhood and we appreciate those who came out to celebrate our beginning.”
Asked about the growth of OrthoNOW, Dr. Badia told OTW, “OrthoNOW, which began franchising in 2014, is a network of specialized urgent care centers focused on the treatment and prevention of the full range of orthopedic and sports injuries, all on a walk-in basis. Services include treatment of injuries to the hand, wrist, foot, ankle, knee, spine and shoulder, as well as preventative consultation and regimens by experts in orthopedics. In today’s climate of sky rocketing healthcare costs, OrthoNOW patients can be seen and treated by an orthopedic specialist during the same visit, which eliminates extra costs and saves time. Patients and entrepreneurs have understood that a specialized urgent care center offers several benefits to the community and are now supporting this effort as it is the future of healthcare.”
As for plans for the next 6-12 months, he noted, “Currently, OrthoNOW has three Florida centers open including: Doral, Biscayne and Aventura. Centers in Coral Way, Pinecrest and two in Georgia are slated to open in the next 30 days. And, later this year in the fall, additional Florida locations will roll out in Broward County and Winter Park, Orlando. Interest continues to pique throughout the nation for the district, unparalleled services that OrthoNOW offers.”
