SpineCraft, LLC has hit a major milestone, with 15, 000 APEX Spine System surgeries! The APEX is a posterior instrumentation system designed for complex deformity correction as well as tumor, trauma and degenerative procedures.

As indicated in the June 21, 2016 news release, “APEX SPINE SYSTEM is designed for use with 6.0 mm and 5.5 mm titanium and cobalt chromium rods. All rods are interchangeable within the same implants and instrumentation providing the surgeon valuable intraoperative flexibility while reducing the hospital inventory requirements. In addition, APEX includes a wide-range of screw, hook and connector options.”

Anis Mekhail, M.D. is with the University of Illinois Hospital & Parkview Orthopaedic Group. He stated, “I have used APEX for several years and it has become my workhorse system for both complex spine as well as degenerative procedures. The broad range of implants and quality instrumentation allows me the surgical flexibility I require to address the most challenging procedures.”

CEO Wagdy Asaad, M.D. told OTW, “To date and since it was launched in 2006, APEX Spine System has treated more than 15, 000 patients globally and has completed over 3, 000 deformity and complex spine surgeries. This milestone represents a significant achievement for SpineCraft. This robust and very comprehensive spine system, now in its third generation and substantially expanded, has been used to treat patients with cerebral palsy, Marfans Syndrome, idiopathic scoliosis (adult and adolescent), hyperkyphosis from congenital deformities, post traumatic scoliosis, neuromuscular scoliosis, Marquio’s Syndrome and post TB kyphosis. This system has been also used in treating complex revision spine surgeries, and a wide range of degenerative spine problems. As demonstration of the flexibility of the APEX system, the youngest patient to be operated on using it was 8 years old and the oldest patient was 81.”

“SpineCraft has been also keen to participate in providing the much needed care by making available the APEX system to patients in less developed countries as well as through Scoliosis research Society (SRS) global outreach program and educational & training activities to surgeons who are seeking such knowledge.”

  1. I saw your article and got so excited to see that there may actually be hope for me. I have had two surgeries gone bad and now have osteoporosis, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, arthritis and fibromyalgia. I was told that there is nothing else that can be done. My loosened hardware, nerve damage and stenosis make it unbearable to deal with on a daily basis.i am only on disability so am not able to pay ungodly amounts of money for something like this but am desperate. I need a Dr.that actually cares about as persons life. Any ideas ???? Any ideas ???
