Robert LaPrade, M.D., Ph.D. and colleagues at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute were honored with four awards at the 2018 American Orthopaedics Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Annual Meeting for their cutting-edge research in orthopaedic sports medicine.
LaPrade and colleagues were awarded:

- Cabaud Memorial Award
- American Journal of Sports Medicine Systematic Review Award
- 2018 William A. Grana Award for Best Original Research
LaPrade and colleagues received the Fellow Research Award–Basic Science, formerly the Aircast Award, which is given to the best paper in basic science submitted by a sports medicine fellow for “Influence of Naproxen, Age and Body Mass Index on the Biological Composition of Leukocyte Rich Platelet-Rich Plasma: A Prospective, Therapeutic, Cohort Study,” written by Sandeep Mannava, M.D., Ph.D.; Kaitlyn E. Whitney, B.S.; Jillian King, B.S.; Mitchell Kennedy, B.S.; Katarina Klett; Grant Dornan, MSc; Jorge Chahla, M.D., Ph.D.; Thos A. Evans, M.D.; Johnny Huard Ph.D.; and Robert F. LaPrade, M.D., Ph.D.
He also received the Cabaud Memorial Award along with Gilbert Moatshe, M.D.; Jorge Chahla, M.D., Ph.D.; Alex Brady MSc; Grant Dornan; Kyle Muckenhim; Bradley Kruckeberg, B.A.; and Lars Engebretsen, M.D., Ph.D. for their research, “The Influence of Graft Tensioning Sequence on Tibiofemoral Orientation During Bicruciate and Posterolateral Corner Knee Ligament Reconstruction: A Biomechanical Study.”
The Cabaud Memorial Award, which is given to the best manuscript submitted related to hard or soft tissue biology, honors the life and contributions of Henry Edward (“Ed”) Cabaud III, M.D.
LaPrade was also awarded the American Journal of Sports Medicine Systematic Review Award along with Mark E. Cinque, M.S.; Grant J. Dornan, M.S.C.; Jorge Chahla, M.D., Ph.D.; and Gilbert Moatshe, M.D. for “High Rates of Osteoarthritis Develop After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Surgery: An Analysis of 4108 Patients.” The American Journal of Sports Medicine Systematic Review Award was established to encourage submission of high-quality systematic review papers.
He was also a recipient of the 2018 William A. Gran Award for Best Original Research along with his colleagues, Jonathan M. Frank, M.D.; Gilbert Moatshe, M.D.; Alex W. Brady, M.S.; Grant J. Dornan, M.S.; Ashley Coggins, B.S.; Kyle J. Muckenhirn, B.S.; Erik L. Slette, B.A.; and Jacob D. Mikula, B.S. for “Lateral Meniscus Posterior Root and Meniscofemoral Ligaments as Stabilizing Structures in the ACL-Deficient Knee: A Biomechanical Study.”

Dr. LaPrade is a complex knee surgeon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado and the chief medical officer and co-director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute. He has treated athletes at all levels, from Olympic to intercollegiate.
