To help hospital administrators manage their constantly evolving healthcare systems, the American Hospital Association (AHA) plans to launch an innovation center to support hospitals’ efforts to “keep up” with evolving technology and care models.
The AHA Center for Health Innovation will officially launch in September 2018 according to Paige Minemyer, editor at fiercemarkets.com. The center will be designed to work with hospitals where they are in managing their delivery systems and innovations as well as promote a more proactive approach to health policy.
“What I like about the center is that it’s a way for us to get ahead of change instead of just responding to change,” said AHA Board Chair Nancy Howell.
The center will hone in on six focus areas. They are, affordability and value, performance improvement, innovation and capacity, emerging issues, population health, and new payment and delivery models.
Maryjane Wurth, AHA executive vice president and chief operating officer, told FierceHealthcare, “Today, the opportunity for innovation and transformation, at scale, has faced a multitude of barriers, which we believe we can help overcome with new innovative partnerships and facilitating national, regional and local collaboration,”
