Emerson, New Jersey-based gSource, LLC will celebrate its 20th anniversary on October 1, 2019. gSource sells medical devices and surgical instruments crafted primarily of German stainless steel. The company serves hospitals, surgical centers, and medical device companies located across the globe.
History of gSource
gSource was founded in 1999 by engineer Gerd Billmann, who also serves as its current President. “Not all instruments are created equal,” says Billmann. “A better instrument helps a surgeon perform at his or her best. gSource provides better instruments.”
Billmann gained experience in quality assurance and business operations while working for a major surgical instrument company in the U.S. as well as within the automobile industry in Germany.
Billmann wanted to start his own business creating and manufacturing surgical hand-held instruments, with a focus on quality and precise function. He created gSource to meet demands for German-crafted and U.S.-machined surgical stainless steel instruments.
German forgings are known to be of the best quality and best steel for surgical tools. According to gSource, the majority of surgeons prefer the feeling of a forged instrument. An entire family of instruments can be made from the same forging, which gives the instruments a consistent feel. The feeling of uniform surgical instruments allows a surgeon to use the tool as an extension of their own hand with minimal distraction.
gSource Today
Today, the company focuses on creating high quality and affordable instrumentation, and also takes pride in acting as an advocate for international orthopedic and spinal community surgical needs. With this in mind, develops new instruments based on feedback from surgeons and surgical teams.
Its inventory currently includes over 4,100 patterns, which are available for same day shipment. World leaders and innovators in orthopedics and spine utilize these tools globally.
When asked what sets gSource apart from its competitors, Billmann responded, “Aside from providing high quality surgical instruments, what truly separates gSource in the field of surgical instruments is the product availability, engineering and repair services, and our customer service team who always goes the extra mile to build and maintain excellent customer relations.”
Looking Forward
Currently, gSource is also looking to expand its role into providing instruments in other fields of surgery such as cardiology, arthroscopy, and ophthalmology.
Billmann reflects on the 20th anniversary of the company he founded as follows, “The gSource vision continues to be a gSource instrument in every surgeon’s hand worldwide. We remain committed to putting the finest instrumentation into the hands of surgeons and their teams.”
He continued, “High quality standards have allowed gSource to not just sell, but create innovative instruments based on feedback from surgeons and healthcare professionals. We will continue to strive for innovation with new products and services offered to our customers in order to meet their requirements and provide them with outstanding service. I am proud of the entire team at gSource who dedicate themselves to customers and their specific needs. It is only because of those valued customers that we are able to reach this milestone. We sincerely thank our customers for their business with gSource over the past 20 years.”
