Robbie Allen, an existing member of the SpineCenterAtlanta team, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Allen has also joined the Board of Directors, chaired by Founding Surgeon James L. Chappuis, M.D., F.A.C.S.
An intraoperative neurophysiologist, Allen brings more than 25 years of senior healthcare leadership experience to the company having spent his career in a variety of CEO, President, and Board-level positions in companies across the industry.
Dr. Chappuis told OTW, “Robbie Allen quickly created a world-class board of directors, which includes several business leaders like the founder of Sideqik. He formed a more effective organizational structure and established a cultural of respect and kindness throughout the practice.”
“What’s really unique about Robbie Allen is while people sometimes kid around about not being a rocket scientist … well, he is! Robbie Allen truly is a rocket scientist having studied both aerospace and chemical engineering. Another trait that I really appreciate about him is how he responds as opposed to reacting, which is so important in medicine and surgery. We react from emotions and respond from sound reasoning. He treats everyone fairly, is honest in his word, and displays character and integrity that is so important in business today, particularly as CEO.”
Robbie Allen told OTW, “The first priority in any transformation of a company is to take care of the people. If you do that first and do it well, things tend to work out very well going forward, so people are my top priority. Secondarily, the organizational structure and controls had to be completely redone—which of course relates back to people.”
Asked what unique personality trait he brings to this role, he noted, “I have a very level and congenial personality, and I strive to treat everyone the same and let everyone know they are heard. I am not sure that is unique, but I do have a significant ability to de-escalate conflict and not take things personally that seems to rub off on people around me, and this leads to a more predictable and consistent work environment.”
