ControlRad, Inc., a privately held medical technology company, has announced the addition of five executives to its leadership team. The Atlanta-based firm develops products that reduce patients’ and healthcare professionals’ radiation exposure from fluoroscopically guided procedures.
The announcement coincides with the company’s increased commercialization of ControlRad Trace, an FDA-cleared technology, which reduces radiation exposure during fluoroscopically guided procedures.
Joining ControlRad are Peter Pizzo as chief financial officer, Amy Lazarus as vice president of USA operations, Joe Ross as vice president of marketing, and Sean Finnerty and Tim Hein as area vice presidents of sales. The new executives are all industry veterans and have significant experience introducing new products in the medical device industry.
ControlRad’s Mobile C-arm division’s Executive Vice President and President Chris Fair told OTW, “Having the right team members with the expertise and experience is critical to achieving repeatable success when building a company. These new team members bring more than 100 years of relevant medical device experience, and we have already seen improvements in our business in the short time they have been with us. 2020 is looking great, and we are excited to expand the reach of our business and help to reduce the radiation exposure of the 1.2 million procedures that use fluoroscopic guidance.”
Chief Financial Officer Peter Pizzo has over 25 years of experience in senior financial roles with venture-backed and public life science companies. Most recently, Pizzo served as chief financial officer of Cartiva, Inc. until its purchase by Wright Medical Group.
Vice President of USA Operations Amy Lazarus has almost 30 years of experience developing operational infrastructure and processes, building teams, and managing profit and loss. Most recently, Lazarus was a managing director at ArchPoint Consulting focused on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and post-merger integrations for companies in healthcare, pharma, energy, emergency services and advanced engineering materials.
Vice President of Marketing Joe Ross has almost 25 years of experience in the medical device industry where he has held senior leadership positions in both private and public companies. Most recently, Ross served as general manager of Zimmer Biomet’s spine division.
Area Vice President of Sales–East Sean Finnerty has nearly 15 years of experience in the medical device industry. Finnerty has held senior sales leadership positions in both private and public companies. Prior to joining ControlRad, Finnerty held sales leadership positions with Cartiva, Stryker Corporation, Carticept Medical, Inc., and Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation.
Area Vice President of Sales–West Timothy Hein’s experience includes more than 25 years in the medical device industry. Hein has held senior sales leadership positions at both private and public companies. Before joining ControlRad, Hein was vice president of sales for Paradigm Spine, LLC until RTI Surgical Holdings, Inc. acquired the company.
