Katherine J. Sage, MS, DO, an orthopedic surgeon with the Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan, recently received the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO) Emerging Leader award.
The award recognizes medical professionals who are dedicated to community service as well as hospital or community leadership. Sage was honored at the AOAO Annual Meeting during the AOAO Foundation Dinner in Colorado.
“The AOAO Emerging Leader award is a testament to Dr. Sage’s leadership within our practice and commitment to giving back to the West Michigan community,” Jeff Rowe, executive director of Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan said.
“It’s with great joy that we celebrate this achievement alongside Dr. Sage,” he added.
Sage received her degree from DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine and did her orthopedic surgery residency at Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan. She then completed a fellowship in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery at Medstar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
When not with patients, she writes a monthly column for Women’s Lifestyle Magazine, serves on the impACT Board of Directors for the Metro Health Hospital Foundation and trains residents at Metro Health University of Michigan.
Sage also likes to maintain an active lifestyle running, skiing, sailing and participating in triathlons.
AOAO is dedicated to facilitating training and continuous development of osteopathic orthopedic surgeons to improve the care, healing and quality of life of patients.
