Solvay S.A. has announced that Fort Worth, Texas-based ResMart, LLC will take over its medical grade polymers’ North American distribution.
ResMart has been distributing several of Solvay’s polymers throughout North America for the past five years. Under the new distribution agreement, ResMart will also be allowed to distribute Solvay’s Ixef® polyarylamide (PARA) compounds. ResMart is taking over North American distribution from Solvay’s previous distributor, Foster Corporation, beginning on May 14, 2020. Foster will continue to fulfill licensed and custom orders for some of Solvay’s healthcare polymers.
“We are very pleased to take on a larger role in distributing Solvay’s high-performance polymers across North America,” said Ray Cross, ResMart general manager. “Our broad regional presence, as well as advanced technologies and processes enable us to optimize our distribution speed, accuracy and efficiency to meet the needs of Solvay’s customers.”
Regarding ResMart’s relationship with Solvay, Cross stated, “We look forward to continuing our relationship with Solvay to offer best-in-class material solutions for tomorrow’s healthcare applications.”
Simplifying the distribution network will benefit customers. “This expansion of our relationship with ResMart will benefit our customers in many important ways,” said Art Tigera, North American sales director for Solvay’s specialty polymers global business unit.
Tigera explained, “Working with ResMart’s dedicated healthcare group allows us to simplify our North American distribution network and be in the best position to broadly deliver these advanced material solutions to meet customers’ changing needs.”
Regarding the resins, Tigera stated, “Solvay resins address top healthcare industry requirements, including broad sterilization capabilities, toughness, durability, design flexibility, and excellent resistance to aggressive chemical disinfectants that can cause environmental stress cracking in lower performing polymers.”
Founded in 1863, Solvay is “an advanced materials and specialty chemicals company.” With more than 24,100 employees in 64 countries, Solvay is “committed to developing chemistry that addresses key societal challenges.” In the United States, Solvay has 11 research and innovation centers, 9 headquarters, 10 offices, and 51 production sites.
