DJO Global, Inc. recently launched a new post-op knee brace that offers advanced ROM (range of motion) control and protection.

The new brace, DonJoy X-ROM Post-op Knee Brace, is designed to help patients recover from anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair and other knee surgeries. Rates of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and meniscal repair rates continue to rise. In the U.S., there are between 100,000 and 200,000 ACL ruptures a year, with about 1 in 3,500 Americans experiencing one.

Besides offering better stability, the brace also includes features like a quick-lock and hinge pull-out stops that make it easier and more comfortable to wear. Gradual mobilization of the knee is an important part of rehabilitation.

The hinge design allows for more precise control ROM with settings in -10˚ increments from -10˚to 90˚ extension and -10˚ to 120˚ flexion. In addition, it easily locks at 10˚increments from -10˚to 30˚.

“DJO is relentlessly innovating to help patients recover from knee surgery with unmatched confidence and comfort,” said Gary Justak, vice president of sales, bracing and supports. “We’ve combined the best of our earlier products with new advancement and patient feedback to produce a brace that helps combine excellent ROM protection with a comfortable, user-friendly design.”

Specifically, the design of the brace allows for more enhanced varus/valgus contouring, folded ankle pads and strategically placed contact points between the leg and brace to reduce slippage. There is also an anti-microbial coating that neutralizes odor.

The post-op brace is indicated for any patient recovering from anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, lateral cruciate ligament, and medial collateral ligament surgeries and meniscal repairs. It can easily accommodate any patient from 4’1” to 6’5”. It can easily fit right out of the box.

DJO, a subsidiary of Colfax Corporation, is a provider of medical technologies based in Austin, Texas. Their products focus on musculoskeletal health, joint reconstruction, and pain management.
