Centinel Spine®, LLC. of West Chester, Pennsylvania, has announced the appointment of Varun Gandhi as Chief Financial Officer. The position was previously held by Jeff Stello, of Charlestown Capital Partners, who had been serving as interim CFO since Bob Rathsam’s departure in October 2019.

Gandhi is moving up from his role as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance and Strategic Planning with Centinel Spine. He has also fulfilled the responsibilities of General Manager, International for the company since June 2019.

Centinel Spine is a Viscogliosi Brothers’ portfolio company, which was headed by John Viscogliosi as CEO, until March 2020 when Steve Murry took the helm. Gandhi left Small Bone Innovations, Inc. (SBi was previously a Viscogliosi Brothers portfolio company) where he was VP of Strategic Planning and Corporate Finance to join the Viscogliosi Brothers and Centinel Spine after Stryker purchased SBi in 2014. He received a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and Economics from Rutgers University in 2005.

OTW reached out the Gandhi for comment on his vision for the future of Centinel as he takes his new leadership position. “I have been part of Centinel since 2014 and seen the transformation of the company into becoming a leader in anterior column reconstruction up-close. Centinel has leading, clinically differentiated product platforms for motion and fusion. I am looking forward to working closely with Steve and the team in further building on that excellent foundation.”

Steve Murray remarked on the appointment: “Varun Gandhi is a proven financial, strategic, and organizational leader in the orthopedics industry who has made particularly important contributions to Centinel Spine and its growth over the past several years. He knows our company and the spine market deeply. We look forward to Varun’s contributions to the next phase of growth for Centinel Spine.”

Centinel Spine has gained attention over the past few years after the anterior lumbar interbody fusion procedure that has been credited for Tiger Woods’ remarkable comeback on the PGA tour in 2019 which was done with the company’s STALIF M-Ti™.
