Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Parvizi Surgical Innovation, LLC (PSI) has announced an investment in and a partnership with The Woodlands, Texas-based Efferent Health, LLC.

Founded in 2016, PSI develops technologies to address issues in the healthcare system. According to PSI, its areas of focus are infection science, digital health, genomics, tissue regeneration, and devices and other ways to facilitate precision surgery. PSI also assists affiliate companies in the areas of “research studies, product development, manufacturing, product testing, participating in regulatory activities and clinical trials while securing intellectual property (patents, trademarks, and copyrights), for pre-clinical and clinical use.”

PSI Founder and CEO Javad Parvizi, M.D., a board certified orthopedic surgeon, expressed excitement about the partnership. Dr. Parvizi commented, “Parvizi Surgical Innovation is excited about the opportunity to work with Efferent Health to address some of the issues surrounding existing inefficiencies in healthcare, such as the inability of EMRs [electronic medical records] to crosstalk or the ability to access digital data. These inefficiencies can result in declining patient care and escalating healthcare costs.”

Dr. Parvizi continued, “Efferent Health is beautifully poised to address these issues using their novel and state-of-the-art FHIR [Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource] platform. Our collaboration aligns with the main mission of PSI, namely, to advance patient care by exploiting novel technologies.”

Efferent Health is an information technology company. It connects and automates healthcare operational processes. The Efferent Health architecture is centered around “making clinical, operational processes faster, less expensive, and more effective than current methods.” Per its website, its products include the following: SmartLink™, facilitating the transfer of protected health information; eVue, “a cloud medical image management and viewing solution”; SmartShare, a cloud-based “image access share technology”; eFit, a surgical planning tool; eCue, “a cloud-based Clinical Operations Management System”; and eBank, a cloud-based archival system for the eVue and eCue solutions.
