The famed Campbell Clinic, founded in 1909 by one of the pioneers of modern orthopaedic care, Willis C. Campbell, has added four impressive new physicians to its team in Memphis, Tennessee.

They are Chad Campion, M.D., Carson Rider, M.D. Wesley Owen M.D. and Matthew Gilbert, M.D.

Chad Campion, M.D., who is a fellowship trained spine surgeon, completed his residency at Campbell Clinic and his spine surgery fellowship at Louisville, Kentucky-based Norton-Leatherman Spine. According to the clinic, “Dr. Campion is the first surgeon in the Mid-South region to offer the minimally invasive posterior decompression and fusion (MidLIF) technique.”

Carson Rider, M.D., who is a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon, also completed his residency at Campbell Clinic. His foot and ankle surgery fellowship was at New York, New York-based Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Rider focuses on total ankle replacement and, per the clinic, “foot and ankle sports surgery that focuses on Achilles tendon, ruptures and reconstruction, ankle sprains and fractures.”

Wesley Owen, M.D., who is a fellowship trained sports medicine physician, completed his residency at the University of Tennessee St. Francis Family Medicine Program based in Memphis, Tennessee. He then went on to complete a family medicine sports medicine fellowship at Campbell Clinic. Dr. Owen is able to treat a range of patients and has special training focused on sports concussions.

Matthew Gilbert, M.D., who is a fellowship trained sports medicine physician, completed his residency at the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Dr. Gilbert then stayed in Tuscaloosa to complete a primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of Alabama. According to the clinic, Dr. Gilbert’s current coverage will mainly include “Rhodes College, the University of Memphis, the Memphis Redbirds, and Bartlett High School.”
