Nimit K. Lad, M.D. and Michael K. Schaufele, M.D. have joined Resurgens Orthopaedics, a practice with nearly 100 physicians across Georgia providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
Dr. Lad is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine. He has worked as a team physician for college athletes at Duke University and North Carolina Central University. His hospital affiliation is Emory St. Joseph Hospital.
Dr. Lad is active in the orthopedic community. He is affiliated with the American Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also an active researcher and author who focuses on orthopedic surgery, with an emphasis on sports medicine.
A graduate of Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Lad completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Temple University Hospital and a fellowship in sports medicine at Duke University. He is board eligible with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
OTW spoke with Dr. Lad about joining Resurgens Orthopaedics. Dr. Lad told OTW, “I am excited to join a practice that is so well regarded and a leader in providing comprehensive, high quality orthopaedic care in the Atlanta area. The multispecialty group gives me an opportunity to work with experts in treating a wide variety of conditions to help get our patients feeling better and active again.”
Dr. Lad continued, “It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know the patients, staff, and physicians at Resurgens and I am thrilled to be a part of the team.”
Dr. Schaufele is a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation of the spine. Per the press release, his areas of expertise include interventional spine and orthopedic care, nonsurgical spine care, neuromodulation, and regenerative medicine. He previously served as an associate professor at Emory University where he was the residency program director, playing an important part in training residents and fellows.
Dr. Schaufele is affiliated with the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the North American Spine Society, the Spine Intervention Society, and the Georgia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He has been named as an Atlanta Top Doctor for the past decade.
Dr. Schaufele obtained his medical degree from Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. He completed his residency at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital at Harvard Medical School and a fellowship at Orthopaedic Hospital Harlaching in Munich, Germany. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain medicine, and sports medicine.
OTW also spoke with Dr. Schaufele about joining Resurgens Orthopaedics. Dr. Schaufele explained to OTW, “I have been practicing in Atlanta since 2000 and joined Resurgens Orthopaedics because of the practice’s known excellence in musculoskeletal care. I have worked with many Resurgens providers over the years and have always respected them for their professionalism and skills.”
Dr. Schaufele continued, “I’m excited to be part of this world class group of orthopedic and PM&R physicians, rehabilitation therapists and staff.”
In addition to the new physicians, Resurgens Orthopaedics also announced the opening of a new location in College Park, Georgia.
