Greenwich, Connecticut-based Spire Orthopedic Partners has named Chris Fusco as the company’s chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2023.

Fusco was a member of Spire’s founding team and acted as the company’s chief growth officer. He has over 15 years of healthcare services experience.

Spire Board of Directors Chairman Robert Cucuel commented, “Chris was part of the small group of executives and physicians who launched Spire, and he is an excellent match for the organization’s needs as we continue supporting more of the nation’s leading orthopedic and spine practices.”

Cucuel continued, “Serving as Spire’s Chief Growth Officer, Chris has played an integral role in our ongoing expansion throughout the northeast. He has also demonstrated an ability to establish strong relationships with clinical and executive leaders while also engaging prospective and new physician partners.”

Prior to joining Spire, Fusco was the chief development officer for Dallas, Texas-based EyeCare Services Partners, an eyecare services company. Before that, he was director of business development for Brentwood, Tennessee-based QualDerm Partners, a dermatology-focused management services company. Similarly, he served as director of business development for Nashville, Tennessee-based Urgent Team, a family of urgent care and walk-in centers. Fusco began his career at New York, New York-based MTS Health Partners, a healthcare focused investment bank.

He then worked at a number of private equity-backed physician practice management platforms. This experience has given him “an in-depth understanding of operations, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity’s increased presence in the orthopedic sector.”

Spire is a management services organization for orthopedic practices. It is an expanding partnership of orthopedic practices in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. According to the company’s press release, its network boasts more than 100 physicians, 1,000 employees, and 23 locations.

Fusco stated, “As managing and operating private orthopedic practices continue to increase in complexity, Spire has positioned itself as the management and capital partner of choice for leading private practices with one simple goal—to ensure the proliferation of local, physician-led orthopedic care.”

Fusco continued, “I’m looking forward to collaborating with Spire leadership, our National Practice Board, physicians and practice leaders to build the future for independent orthopedic care.”
