Trias MD, a musculoskeletal management company based in Newport Beach, California, has named new executives in a series of hirings and promotions.
The leadership changes come as the company focuses on expanding its ambulatory surgery center (ASC) model, a model created by DISC Sports & Spine Center. Trias MD (formerly Trias Global) is the parent company of DISC’s ASC and DISC’s surgery center at Newport Beach.
OTW spoke with Trias MD Chief Executive Officer Jim Becker. Becker explained, “Our goal for 2023 is to continue to enhance and expand the ASC model created by DISC throughout several key markets in Southern California. This will give more people access to the highest quality of musculoskeletal care in outpatient locations not only convenient to them but also proven to yield better outcomes and a quicker return to active lifestyles. We are setting the pace in a nationwide trend that’s migrating high-acuity surgeries into ASCs.”
Becker continued, “By expanding our staff with top talent and promoting capable team leaders within, we are well-positioned to accomplish this goal.”
Owen Shen, CPA, MBA, an experienced accounting and finance professional, joins Trias MD as vice president of finance. A majority of Shen’s experience comes from the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Trias MD, Shen was corporate vice president of finance operations at AHMC Healthcare Inc., chief financial officer for Ensemble Therapy, and corporate director of finance and controller for Prime Healthcare Services.
Jane Sumaya joins Trias MD as vice president of program and construction management. Sumaya is a civil engineer and has over a decade of organizational leadership and program management experience, including managing teams on multimillion-dollar projects. Per the press release, Sumaya was a “member of the original leadership team that successfully launched the flagship DISC Surgery Center at Newport Beach.” Trias MD will depend on this experience as it continues its facilities expansion.
Trias MD also has a new physician concierge, Noor Lakhani. Lakhani previously worked for DISC as well as its CEO and founding director, Robert S. Bray, Jr., M.D. Lakhani’s career has spanned more than 20 years. It has included, per the press release, setting up “numerous successful practices, handling everything from establishing busy revenue cycles and managing day-to-day operations to billing, administration, marketing and ASC business office needs.”
Existing Trias MD employees were also promoted. Karen Reiter was promoted to vice president operations and payor management and Garrett Bray was promoted to chief marketing officer.
