Twenty-year follow-up data for total disc replacement (TDR)/arthroplasty revisions revealed that spine TDR, in this one study, was safer, longer than total hip or knee arthroplasty (THA/TKA).

The study, which was published in Spine, followed 2,141 patients for up to 20 years after their total disc replacement surgery. The rate of revised (or removal) total disc replacement was 1.26%. To put that number in context, at the same facility, the rate of revision for total hip or total knee arthroplasty was higher.
