Milena Ridl, an executive with extensive and varied domestic and foreign sales experience, has accepted the position of vice president of international sales and marketing for Simpirica Spine, Inc. located in San Carlos, California. Among Ridl’s immediate responsibilities will be expanding the commercialization of the company’s LimiFlex Spinal Stabilization System internationally.
Following receiving the CE mark in January 2011, the LimiFlex has been available outside of the United States. (In the U.S., the LimiFlex Spinal Stabilization System is classified as an investigational device and is limited to investigational use only.)
Ridl brings to her new position more than 12 years of experience in medical technology sales and marketing, with significant focus in spine. She spent nearly five years of her career at Kyphon, where she held senior business development and European sales positions both before and after the company’s acquisition by Medtronic, Inc.. She also served as director of European sales for SpineAlign Medical. Ridl joins Simpirica from biomaterials company MiMedx Group, Inc., where she was the vice president of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Austin Noll, president and chief executive officer of Simpirica Spine, said of Ridl in a March 7 news release, “Milena is a talented, experienced medical technology executive with a deep and proven track record in spine. She joins Simpirica at an exciting time, as we are in an immediate position to greatly expand surgeon and patient access to the LimiFlex Spinal Stabilization System internationally.”
Simpirica Spine developed the Spinal Stabilization System to provide patients a treatment alternative to spinal fusion. Company literature claims that it is designed to address flexion (forward bending) pain and instability without the need for spinal fusion. The company was founded in 2006.
Ridl believes that “the LimiFlex Stabilization System represents a major breakthrough that has the potential to greatly benefit surgeons, indicated patients and the healthcare system at large.” “I am very gratified to be part of the team bringing this important technology to the marketplace.”
